Port Angeles is a great place for artists. It is out of the fray of places like San Francisco and Seattle where one can focus on the work,, There is a sizable group of hard working artists from all around that find this great place to work,. We are in what is called a rain shadow with a mild climate.
The orientation of the water, the angle of the sun makes for great light. dramatic skies. The long summer days greatly increases the effect,the sky puts on a humbling show even if the Aurora Borealis is not out to play.

Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary includes 3,188 square miles of marine waters off the rugged Olympic Peninsula coastline. It is plein air painters paradise. Be prepared to be humbled by some dramatic scenery.

  Vibrant Arts and Community in Port Angeles

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center gallery, originally the private residence of Esther and Charles Webster, was designed in 1951, by Paul Hayden Kirk, as both a residence and artist’s studio.

Preforming artists should check out Arts Northwest serves a growing membership of more than 500 organizations and individuals with services ranging from technical support and publications, mentoring and professional development programs and of course, the annual convening of the Arts Northwest Booking Conference. Arts Northwest has been asked to extend its services well beyond the tri-state region, incorporating growing presenter membership from 10 of the western states, and increasing participation by artists and agents from most of the nation and several countries.

Memorial Day Weekend in 1994, the very first Juan de Fuca Festival was launched and Port Angeles was never quite the same. Twenty four years later, tjhey still welcome all to this annual celebration that will amaze and delight you with its quality, diversity and just plain fun.

Olympic Peninsula College's main campus is in the city of Port Angeles offers Advanced Manufacturing - Composites Technology, Prepares students for the wide-ranging field of composite structure fabrication and repair. Composites Technology program equips students with skills necessary for employment in the aerospace, marine, and recreational equipment industries.
